A couple of UMF students are working to create a Bird Club on campus. President Neve Dauphinais reported that Bird Club was still looking for a treasurer, secretary, and of course, members to express interest.
The group has started coming up with all sorts of bird related activities for the club to participate in and hope to keep thinking of more.
“We are still figuring some stuff out, but we’re thinking crafts, a bird journal, bird walks, and trapping and tagging birds. We’re still developing ideas, and are open to some more cool ideas,” Dauphinais said.
Right now, the club’s main goal is to get more students involved.
“We’re hoping to get people interested in learning about birds, people who appreciate birds or people who don’t know a lot about birds, but want to learn more,” Dauphinais said.
Dauphinais is excited to bring together people who have a similar interest in birds.
“I’m looking forward to meeting people who share the same interest, build community, and gain experience, which I think is important for clubs,” Dauphinais said.
The club is working to get the word out about the club in order to officially get started.
“I want people to know they can always reach out and ask questions, and are always free to join any time. I’m looking for people to fill eboard positions and just spreading the word,” Dauphinais said.
If you are interested in joining the Bird Club, you can contact President Neve Dauphinais at neve.dauphinais@maine.edu, Advisor Evan Jackson or Vice President Rainier Murray.
